Sunblush

Behind the backdrop of an enormous horizon
The sun her umbrella
She dances, swaying about with the wind
Moving about, her shadow now playing catch up
She resonates but with no sound

At a distance you can see her smiling
Unaware of you, she continues on
You sense her ecstatic joy
Her freedom draws you in
That tingle on your skin, is it the warmth of the sun
Or is it her
Starting to resonate within your soul

Still unaware of you
This daughter of Eve continues
Lost in dance with the sun
A slow twirl with balance and charm
You want to draw near
Take her by the hand, and join the bliss

But shyly all you can do is to look up
Staring into the sun
Eyes blinking in the brilliance and the sun, he seems to blush
You yearn to take her into your arms
But today it’s the sun’s dance
Today he is her partner

Arden's Kiss

Oh those days when we were young
It was the days of elementary
This new sentiment felt but not truly understood
The first pull of the feminine mystique
Blonde and blue eyed captured more than I could articulate
She was intriguing
I was the boy on puppet strings
Something in the way we were, always inseparable
She led me under that elderly oak tree by the hand
Under its boughs, its sway and shadows
A simple kiss
No fireworks so to speak
No expectations to frame upon
Old sweet memories revived
I wonder… how many first kisses did that old tree smile upon
I wonder if it still stands there today?
Ah! Sweet Arden, pray that life has been good to you
Thank you for the memory!

A Winters Day Settling

Respiring anxiously at the vast ocean elongated above
Oh would you hesitate for moments more
Waves of sundown vividly crashing through eyesight and senses
Inhibitions cast, I am in a manner to find a way to you

Soaked and swirled blue pastels
Pink vermillion wrapped, caught in a sky webbed with cotton
Strewn across the dipping horizon, radiating
Conflagrations enraptured with crimson blue
Hush the blushing pink and periwinkle winking sky

I clamber to chase this settling to fall asleep in the sundown
To attain, float about, saturate in the wide of this vista
But coming up lacking to be where you are
I seize some clouds
Only to find you moving onto another days horizon

Gravity dances and pulls you from me
Oh would you hesitate for moments more
Alas, nevertheless ‘tis another tomorrow
I will be waiting…tomorrow

A Summer Dream That Never Was

That summer day arrived but never was
Because the sky above was never blue
Unable to squeeze the shoreline restive
For no more was the ocean
Is this just another sunshine daydream?

Waves became desiccated
So we walked the sand land, speaking intermittently
We collect, we smile
Trading sand dollars for coin
To acquire and obtain each other’s murmuring thoughts

Once saturated with marine life
We now behold with eyes of rumination
An undersea garden laid bare now unfurls itself
You take my hand with yours, we experience the coarse sense together
Of exposed pink and aqua coral reefs
Watching sea flora blooming, surrounding in a mayhem of colors

A single seahorse arrives, seemingly misplaced
With eyes beckoning us to journey
Under a fuller sun we mount our steed
He bears us through the romance of this all
I look back but there are no hoof prints

For us, some kind reckoning now initiates
I have never felt more alive…but a sense of sagacity grips me
Am I dreaming? Or is it you?

A Child's Heart

Her little smile outshines solar rays abounding
So young and carefree
Playing tag with seagulls on the shore
Kicking up sand with her tiny feet

Tireless in her endeavors
Her giggles of laughter bring her pleasure
In pictorial surroundings
She is one of life’s treasures

I pray for her
Bless this one Lord
For a child’s heart is pure

I Bought A Field

I saw the twilight explode before me
So I bought a field and sat
I gathered in all that I saw

Watching the last gloamings of the day
Taking its last peak at the day’s end
Here I can see everything

Still, I sat
Waiting through the night
Then came the early dawn

She raises the day’s horizon with the sun in tow
Brushing the underbelly of the clouds
With hue and tone

Surely all of this…the fingerprints of a creator are displayed
I begin to wonder about those
Those who do not believe in God

Happenstance belief
Scrutinizing change set right before my sight
How can one not believe?

In my field I sit…I smile, I know
Glories ebbing and flowing before me
Speak and tell

Come... sit with me in my field
Look through my eyes, my lens
And…I will show you something remarkable

Wholly Surrendered

Like the wise men before me
Bearing gifts of myrrh and spices
Brushing aside the veil humbly
Because of the crimson stain, I kneel

Laying before you what is me
A bottle sealed with tears
Of dashed dreams, pains past
Of medals, ribbons with flair
Declaring victories of times of yore

A weathered leathered bound book
Written of my life that is no longer mine
In your presence, you’re Spirit within me
Pull my flesh from my soul
It is I who no longer live but Christ in me

May I see my self righteousness burned like dross
My entire carnal hopes carried away captive
May I then encourage myself in you Jesus
For whom can I turn, you have the Words of Life

For in you I move and have my being
You cause my heart to beat
Coursing blood through my veins
Lungs respire, inhaling and exhaling

This is the consign
To where I want to be established
For here is the furtive place of rest and joy
Not my will, desires or dreams be done
I need yours Oh Sovereign Lord, My Daddy
