Moongaze And Dream My Darling

Cast your gaze to the sky my little one
It has finally risen
Skirting above the hills
Be quick my Darling daughter
Grab the rising moon
Shake it ‘til dreams, beams and moon dust fall

We will run through the field just you and me
The air sweetened with honeysuckle
Under the Lord’s radiant awning of moonlight
Hold tight to the basket we brought
And will we gather them all in

We’ll sprinkle moon dust on moonbeams
And let them navigate us through the Milky Way
Taking us up in a swirling swoon and whoosh!
Off we go, adventure awaits, so do your dreams
Your nightgown flows and long hair shimmers
From the burst of our shooting star

We do not speak, we do not need to
Your eyes, your glances and smiles tell me everything
I see you breathing it all in
Close your heavy eyelids my Darling
I will lay your head on your pillow

I will kiss you on your forehead and pray over you
Tucked in, your basket laid next you
The night is still young
Adventure still beckons and awaits you
Enjoy My Darling, my little one, Enjoy!

A Nighttime Flight

Brushing supple aspen branches aside
Under stars twinkling exceeding above
Drawing breath in the nighttime mountain air
Groping, moving, feeling my way, at ease
Verily this path have I rambled on many a time

Branches give way to the diminutive clearing
An alpine meadow sweats its scents
I do not feign, or hold my enthusiasm
Forward I look to my nighttime flight

Recollections of summers spent
Deluge emotions of my early youth
As I now stand before “the tree”
Still sturdy all these years

She is still there, waiting for me…my swing
A weather beaten board
Her ropes still clinging
Reaching up to the uppermost chambers of the pine

I sit, grabbing the bulky ropes
Feeling the all too familiar roughness
Still for awhile, eyes shut
Listen do I

Quiet envelops all around
The forest lays silent
The ropes moan and ache in movement
Back and forth…gently, ever so slowly my pace stirs
Tree, rope and board creaking with age

I now am on my nighttime flight…alone
Blinking, winking stars and the Milky Way come into view
Then momentarily disappears under the pine
Then returns in my movements

I have the sense of a child again
Free from care
To wonder and dream
And for this night, just for a few moments…to fly

Warm Aspirations

Hushed and gentle words aright
I would speak into your heart
Beside the pulsing tide and moonlight

Would a tender whisper
A kiss on the forehead
Put a wind in your sails and mine
So we could glide into the day’s ending time

I wonder about soft lace
Your surrendered touch
If we would embrace

Would I watch our footprints behind us?
Disappearing back into the sea
Or would I shut my eyes, ever so tightly

Would the tender breeze from the sea
Stir wisps of your hair into your entrancing stare
With gentle fingers, over your ear

I would remove with care
Would it cause your heart to succumb?
To reveal that glint in your eyes
Would it put a smile into the existing one?

With wonder and praying
How is it that you are so captivating?
A thread you have pulled
Unraveling a heart of solitude

Life is still and composed
Until again, my eyes of you behold
Warm aspirations, reality, conflict between
Like the opposites clamor and serene

I wonder and pray to my Lord to tell
Yet these warm aspirations for you, still do not dispel

Filling The Bucket Moon

Surreptitiously I move along in serendipity
Grabbing bucket and spoon
Under the cover of a midnight full moon and simmering stars
To gather a treasure for my love

Moving towards the lakeshore
I meander towards my aim
Scrutinizing the moon resting on the calm of the waters
Wading into the cool I go

With spoon in hand, I begin filling the bucket with the moon
Taking many excursions, many a night
But every night on my clandestine rendezvous
Looking up, it is revealed that it has become a crescent contour

Slowly, over time I am gathering up the moon
I bother not that it may be a shadow from above, for I am in love
For inside my bucket, a radiance glows
Chary do I, not to drop a beam unto the ground

For I wait for my love
Yet she is nowhere to be found
But when she comes
I have such a gift to give

Sunbeams And Bittersweet Things

Sunbeam smile and the little things
Trinkets delicately placed in your hair
Of you I think about
When you were small, with me, were not here

You will always be my little sunshine
Yes, that’s Daddy’s name I have given you
Dolls with dust, you’re growing up
What’s a Father to do?

From a rocking chair
Remembering distant wakeful nights
Of praying over you latent in my arms
Oh precious those days, have taken flight

You used to waddle and frolic
In the autumn leaves I would rake
Leaning against my tool I would watch
Piles you tried to make

Sunday morning’s ritual curling iron
The baton has been passed to you
Little golden curls I used to make
Have I now been forced to eschew

The radio flyer wagon, peeling wooden rails
Still rests in the garage, garnered with rust
Could sit you and your brother
But you in front, was always a must

Our conversations now have deepened
Missing bittersweet those days wishing you could speak
Our idiom then
Was when our eyes and smiles would meet

Sights and memories, bygone days, slide into the past
Of a daughter that’s growing older in bursts
Pray for Daddy my dear one
For every new day, as your father, will always be my first

Love And Forgiveness

Love…
Love is painful
Through this you know it’s indisputable
You feel it deeply
Breathtakingly alive
How you respond is revealing
Bitterness can be a constant thorn
Choosing longsuffering, a road less traveled is maturity
Forgiveness is not always easy
At times, it is more painful than the wound suffered
To forgive the one who inflicted
And yet, there is no true peace without it

Too Grey And Close To Blue

I am on my way to catch that ray of the sun
That some have already begun to feel
Under a blue sky veiled by grey
But how can I see with sight within the heart
When my revolution clings
With a civil war going on in the inside

Tending to peer within
Looking for my shadows in seasons past
I banter wits with the winds narration
Its resolve always pushing to the future, always tomorrow
In its reveal, it’s constant, a promise taken for granted
Like the sun assured, it always rises, everyday

Trying to distinguish, recounting
The heart’s hopes and daydreams of the future passed
All of us
Have laughed when we were to cry
And cry when we were to laugh

Our lives have not lived up to our dreams
So how does one reconcile, sauntering a path of broken glass?
Are dreams really shooting stars breaking up in the constellations of life imaginations?
Or is our objective in existence been skewed

Where Dreams Go To Die

Ah…that would be us, the human being
This is where dreams go to die
That never ending pursuit of happiness
Dangled emotional puppet strings in obverse of us

We all desire to be loved, to create, desire, inspire, and accomplish
It springs forth like an oasis
But inevitably a mirage
From our first cries from the womb to our last throes of breath

While attainable degrees exist
Our upbringing, decisions, acts of will upon us
Always puts the human being on a collision course with reality
I dare say, we all expected life to be different than it has turned out

Breathless Is....

Breathless is...You
Cleansed in all of the Lord’s Righteousness and Beauty
That completes you
In the apple of God’s eye
You are His creation and Wonder to behold

Breathless is…You
On the day that you were born, when the earthly heaven’s shook
The stars gave up their radiant glow for you as they fell about your face
Angel’s lullabies and praises were sung over you
As God’s destiny and will cradled you His beloved Daughter

Breathless is…You
Leaving me, scattered, shimmering
Like the day’s last beams of a setting sun glancing off the waves of the ocean
Bouncing, crashing back and forth into each other in rhythm and harmony

Breathless is…You
The place where you leave me
Caught somewhere between
The day’s end of a blissful daydream and
The encroaching enchantment of a still sihllouted evening

Breathless is…You
Walking by, seemingly floating, your hair moves with you wistfully, in a grand ballet
Like a warm summer breeze that caress’s ones face, something to be felt, seen, enjoyed
A smile that burns deep from within, so bright that it could melt stone
Stunning are the eyes, that make you, they laugh and cry, they mesmerize

Breathless is…Simply you
And all that my eyes and soul have gathered
Simply you and all the grandeur that God has created
In His image, You are, Fearfully and Wonderfully made

May You Be Blessed Of The Lord!!

Birds In The Nest

The baby birds in the nest
Need their rest

Mama bird flies
At the sound of the their cries

Mama bird was not in a good mood
But she flew anyway to look for food

Up to the sky she flew
When you saw her feathers they were blue

Gathering up worms to eat
She would grab them with her feet

Back to the nest she went
The babies could smell her scent

All nestled and well fed
It was time for all to go to bed

Winding Is This Path Of Life

I have ambled on and through
Certain seasons of a lifetime
As for my vision now
I am always looking forward though

At times this path is smooth and paved
Or a rock strewn trail, up hills and then down
Through deserts, valleys of all sorts and mountainous peaks

There is always an older man though, who is here and there
Always behind me when I tend to glance back upon my path
Never do I seem to pass him on my travels
Nor do I look for him

He is of familiar face
He has played the hypocrite
Picked up the sword of the arrogant
Held hands with self righteousness
He has loved others and been loved
Loved when it is a sacrifice
Given to those in need
And befriended others

There is maturity etched in the lines of his forehead
His eyes glint with wisdom
Seasons, years and circumstances have altered me
My winding path continues on
And I pray daily to continue to see this old man
From time to time

Elephant In The Room

You will not articulate
I will not verbalize
Yet there is a quandary
A state of uncertainty
But it always remains the same
It is always there

There are truths before us that lack discussion
But alas, they are in attendance
Days, months and for years
How many more?
Shame on me for believing
Blind to hope

I observe, or assumed you as one who is healing
But your tearing at the stitches is revealing
Maybe wisdom should prevail
Gentle as a dove, wise as a serpent
Setting tone and boundaries

I have decided to progress on
You, still wrapped in a blanket of unforgiveness
Emotional alienation is your armor
It is the unseen lumbering four legged beast
You carry from room to room

Being Protocol

It’s a diplomatic love affair
A societal medium vacuum gone global
Slowly charming, swaying the masses
Conditioning man to stay contained within…
Slowly numbed and dumbed down
Political correctness and other schemas
Slowly strangling, forcing individuals ideals on others

Who sets this protocol, boundaries, and codes of procedure?
So called free thinkers, politicians, educators, the King Midas’s of the pulpit?
Themselves being deceived
Ever so slowly twisting, forcing their resolve, values
Through the spinning yarns of all sorts of social media
With the masses being spoon fed with veiled agendas

Despite all this
Man is waging wars far and wide
Pestilences and economies are on the precipice
Everything is in contravention
Lines are blurred and broken
We are all intertwined, but are blindfolded
But we someday, all will intersect

The Great Orchestral Shooting Star Experiment

Blissful notes expel from the orchestra
Become shooting stars
Skimming above the trees
Becomes an overhead bazaar

Above violins and other instruments
The nocturnal sky breathing, reaches its peak
An enchanted orchestral galaxy
We came and gathered to seek

Like fireworks displayed
With notes entwined play in the gust
A conductor’s composition flung
Through the colored constellation over us

Fireflies like darting sparklers glow
As we saunter through the meadow’s land
A breathtaking array
For fear of missing more, we ran

Chasing harmonies we still hear
Surging in our hearts aware
You hum the orchestras’ sweet song
Now drawn have I, into your stare

Your expression now reflects the intensity
Of this great orchestral star experiment
For from you now
Shines the orchestral sky’s blissful sentiment

Honeysuckle Insomnia

Honeysuckle aromas draw me
Filling in my room where I lay
Spring time spells arrival
Keeping summer at bay

The chirp of a mockingbird
Goes on through the dawn of night
Does she ever sleep?
What is her joy she employs so trite?

So bright this light the moon
Arcing backwards, east to west
I will walk the call of the hills
This nocturnal trail at my behest

A silvery sheen shadows everything
From chaparral that mantles the hillside
To rocks aglow
Maybe I’ll follow where moon shadows go

Days become lengthy
But now night and light rules the sky
How can this be I ponder
In the back of my mind’s eye

Should I yearn and return to my bed
Retire to my sheets
And leave the hills here
Or should I amble onward, the dawn to meet

And I Asked Of Autumn

And I asked of autumn…
Where have you been?
Preparing to put summer to bed
Birthing winter for nature’s nap
Was her respond

And I asked of autumn…
Would you not stay the year?
Her reply, has not our Lord created the seasons?
Then I would not be what I am to you now
Was her respond

Again I asked of autumn…
What do you behold for me this season?
Temperate mornings for clement crisp daybreaks
Twilights of blazing crimson to meander under
Soothing arrays of colored moods
I convey anticipation threading the air

My hand I offer thee
That we may stroll as one
My epoch also will fade and demise for a time
Let’s celebrate this time that God has bestowed on us
Create reminiscences, recollections of harvest pasts enjoy
Carpei Diem…was her respond

Springtime On Parade

Springtime’s silhouettes
Unhurriedly but surely
Overtakes winter’s shadows
Oh so, so quietly thieving back her season

I have been eyeing you in your pre-dawn moods
Pulling the sun up seasonally earlier
Bedding the night to its delayed slumber
As the days breed longer

There is that familiar fresh chill
You have chased into the air
Vetting early daybreak and belated the evening
Stirred, invigorated, I am for you

I will capture your offer fair maiden
Your arrival, I shall embrace, a springtime pageantry on parade
Grab will I, your gentle drift of lavender and honeysuckle
Into my lungs, inhaling creation’s incense

I shall blow you a kiss
Just to watch it wane on the wind
Will you sense it settle upon your lips
Stay with me onward as we go I plead you

For in a point in time
Abscond will you
Giving of yourself to another season
But for now I am for you and you for me
